Poem XI: One Dryad to Another

February 7th 2007

Come, neighbor;
Breathe my perfume and I will taste your fruit.
We shall not be divided, you and I,
Since our particular roots have stretched themselves and fingered down
Through sanded clay, through dank edged dirt,
And dipped with selfsame thirsty joy
In one selfsame,
Deliberate, Resplendent, Surgent Source.

  1. Hi Ar,
    Heaven’s Doors
    People I’m not kiddin’
    it won’t be your religion
    that opens up heavens doors
    and I’m not foolin’
    it won’t be your schoolin’
that gets you in good with the Lord
you know it may sound funny
but it’s not just your money
it’s your Faith that He’s lookin’ for
so if you want the solution to all of this polution
just give it up and turn to the Lord

You know that He loves you
    where He’s living above you
and He sees everything that you do
so do yourself a favor and try to love your neighbor
and let the love of God shine through

    People I’m not kiddin’
    it won’t be your decision
    that opens up Heaven’s Doors
and I’m not foolin’ it’s not the good
your doing that gets you in good with the Lord
You know it may sound funny but it’s not just your money
it’s your Hope that He’s lookin’ for
So if you want the solution to all of this pollution
just give it up and turn to the Lord

    People I’m not kiddin’
    it won’t be your division
    that opens up Heaven’s Doors
and I’m not foolin’ it’s not what
you’re not doin’ that gets you in good with the Lord
You know it may sound funny but it’s not just your money
It’s your Love that He’s lookin’ for
So if you want the solution to all of this pollution
just give it up and turn to the Lord

    I wrote it for you…

  2. AR,

Haven’t heard back from you, so I don’t know what to think, and the clock for submitting/defending my dissertation is ticking, but that’s really a problem of my own making.

I’m the fella who asked for permission to include ‘Poem XI: One Dryad to Another” in my doctoral dissertation.

Alas, there’s no money in the deal, but if there were, you’d be welcome to a share of it. And there are probably only ten people out of six billion who are going to read my dissertation. Sorry.

Still, your poem has a message for those ten, as do I.

    Best wishes—and pleased keep writing,

  3. Hi, Bruce, I’m so glad you commented here because your original request must have gone astray somehow. I tried to email you, too, and it didn’t go through.

I’m very honored you want to use my poem and certainly give my permission. I just ask that you leave out the “Poem XI” part, simply titling it “One Dryad to Another” because the poem numbering system only applies to my blog.

And please send me the dissertation at alanaasbyroberts@yahoo.com as I am very interested to see what message you found in my words and how you used them. And I don’t mean that as pressure to be anything less than honest.

    Sincerely,

    AR
